I am passionate about bridging design and research to foster inclusivity. I have recently moved back to Belfast, after 8 years in Norway, and would love to expand my involvement in meaningful inclusive community design projects.
For the last five years I have collaborated with neurodivergent communities to design more nourishing environments using embodied ethnography, participatory design, and iterative prototyping that engages diverse sensory experiences. I have translated the insights from this academic research into industry through, design workshops, consultancies and residencies, as well as guest lectures and teaching in education institutions. Iād love to continue this work in a multitude of contexts, capacities, and environments. Please reach out here if you would like to chat about how we might work together.
My design practice has been shaped by a Bachelors in Fashion Design at NCAD, training in the London fashion industry as a tailor on Savile Row and at Alexander McQueen menswear, 6 years developing wearable medical technology in my native Ireland and a short stint in the Netherlands, interlaced with Masters studies in human-centred Product Design Engineering. Since June 2020 I have been a PhD candidate at the Department of Design at NTNU in Norway.
